Ekocity Farming Alliance is a social venture committed to transforming food systems through innovation, sustainability, and community-driven solutions. We believe that farming is possible anywhere and everywhere and work to transform available spaces into productive food and income-generating systems that strengthen household and community resilience.
Kenya is experiencing rapid urbanization. The 2019 Kenya Population and Housing Census indicates that approximately 14.8 million Kenyans, representing 31.2% of the population, live in urban areas. This population is growing steadily at about 2.1% annually, increasing pressure on food systems, land availability, and access to safe, affordable nutrition.
At Ekocity, we respond by creating opportunities for households, institutions, and young people to produce food, generate income, and embrace sustainable agriculture. Through these efforts, we aim to build resilient food systems for present and future generations.
Our Mission
To enable communities to grow, access, consume, and share safe and abundant food while building resilient food systems for present and future generations through innovative urban farming models, appropriate technologies, training, and community engagement.
Our Vision
Thriving communities where everyone has dignified access to safe and nutritious food, and where every available space is recognized as an opportunity to contribute to sustainable food production and livelihoods.
Our Belief
Farming is possible anywhere and everywhere. We transform available spaces into productive food and income-generating systems that strengthen household and community resilience.
